Hi Jara, first of all I wanna thank you for your helpfulness and liking you have towards me. 1) How did you know Dave?
Well I met Dave when we were both doing a session for Stevie Salas's "Be What It Is" record back in 2006. He was such an open, cool guy from the start. Then I didn't see him or talk to him until 2009 when we did our first I.M.F.'s tour.
How do you guess his style?
Dave's style is a hard hitting rock drummer with a funky feel. A lot like how John Bonham felt when he played.
We met in 2009, an unforgettable moment for me. Then, in 2010 the I.M.F.’s came back in Europe with TM Stevens. Do you think there are some differences between your style and TM’s?
Most definitely, although we both thump and pluck the strings....TM brings more of that out when he plays. Although I love his style, I tend to go after a meatier bottom and mid-range out of my sound. I like to dig and make the notes sing a little more.
How is your friendship with Dave, Steve and Bernard?
I haven't talked to Dave much in the last 6 months, but everytime we connect its always laughs and we're actually going to do a dual drum video as soon as our schedules free up. I have a real cool relationship with Stevie & Bernard.
How is going on the adventure with the Slapbak?
Well I took a little break from August through October to finish my first solo record and to shoot a video for my single "Idiot". Slapbak started recording our new record in November and we're about 6 songs in already. We'll be coming back to Europe in the spring or summer of 2012.
I knew that last summer you came touring in France, which sensations did you feel playing in Europe with your band?
Our tour in France was great. Every show was energetic and sold out. Paris is always our hotspot. What an amazing audience we had in Paris.
The I.M.F.’s 2011 tour, considering the absence of Dave, you played the drum instead of the bass. Did you have the same emotions?
Well again I've played drums on Stevie's stuff as well as bass, so it was a cool experience to play that set on drums. Dorian Heartsong cover bass this time and it was very easy to lock in with him. But it's definitely different from me jumoing on bass while Dave bashes down on his crash cymbals ...LOL.
I remember that in Milan, Dave told me “Hey guy, see Jara playing drum on Youtube… he’s great!!!!” I watched some videos and besides being a big bass player, you’re also an excellent drummer!!
Thank you very much and that was very cool of Dave to give me props on drums......as great as he is :-)
Thanks a lot Jara, I hope to see you soon.
Let's stay in touch :-)
